Baby Girls 1st Birthday

 Let me begin with how astonishing it is that this year literally flew by.  I can't believe that my baby girl is already a whole year old!  It's bitter sweet, but even though I wish she could stay cute and tiny forever I am excited to see her personality develop and see the little person she grows into.  I say this a lot but this girl completes me and completes my family.  There isn't a day that goes by that I don't feel truly blessed and give gratitude for this little family we made.

Its strange to think that a mere five years ago I honestly felt that I never wanted children...and for that matter never really saw myself wanting to be married either.  Life if funny like that. Here I am five years later...wife for nearly five years with two kiddos. You can't plan it that's for sure. You have to take it as it comes and remember to enjoy every moment.  Now I can't imagine my life without my husband and children.  I give thanks everyday.  I'm thankful for my family for making me into the woman I am today.

Now onto the birthday girl...

We had a mini birthday celebration on the day of, which included a mini cupcake, a mini mess to clean, and a ball pit for a birthday present.  Which in all honesty may have been more for me.  But the kids enjoyed it (and so did I)

The next day was her birthday party which was great. The only thing missing was my MOM (love you mom).  The theme was a flower garden and the little miss was a butterfly in the garden.

My sister in law made her cakes and did an AMAZING job.  If you live in the Vegas area and need a cake you can visit her blog, A Piece of Cake.  She does a great job. And ohhhh so yummy.

She was leaning over to take a bite out of her cake in the photo below... so cute I could cry.

I feel like the more birthday parties I do the easier they get.  This one was actually enjoyable as opposed to most where I am running around like a chicken with her head cut off.

Happy Mothers Day!

The day I became a mother was the best day of my life.  I can't put into words the joy I felt the day I brought both my children into the world.  I am so thankful for them and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't take a second to think about how truly blessed I am.  On October 10th, 2007, not only was my first child born, but I was also born!  I become a mother that day and from that point forward I would never be the same. 

I'm taking this day to celebrate motherhood.  I do not want to use this day to lounge around and take a load off, but instead find joy in the experience of being a mother and realize what a blessing it truly is.  I want to cherish today and try to take a step back and not look at the wonderful job of being a parent as a chore or a responsibility but as a gift because thats exactly what it is!

And of course this day is a day for me to celebrate my beautiful mother!

I don't know where I would be without her unconditional love and support.  She is ALWAYS there when I need her even if it's just for a few words of encouragement.  Or even if its just to her her say "I love you sweetie".  Without her I wouldn't be the mother I am today and I am FOREVER grateful to her and all that she has done to make me into the woman I am today.
